Using Quinine as a Fluorescent Tracer to Estimate Overland Flow Velocities on Bare Soil: Proof of Concept under Controlled Laboratory Conditions
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study presents a tracer technique based on the fluorescent properties of quinine to help visualization shallow flows and allow quantitative measurement overland flow velocities. Laboratory experiments were conducted compare traditional dye thermal techniques with this novel (quinine) by injecting solution other tracers into flowing surface water. The leading-edge velocities, estimated using videos compared velocities obtained thermograms real imaging tracers. results show that can be used estimate both rill since measurements are similar those resulting from commonly main advantage is higher visibility injected under ultraviolet A (UVA) light for low luminosity conditions. In addition, smaller amounts needed than tracers, which lead disturbances in flow. It requires simple experimental setup non-toxic environment.

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions
The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...

متن کاملEvaluation of overland flow models using laboratory catchment data I. An apparatus for laboratory catchment studies
A laboratory catchment provides experimental control over hydrological variables which is notably absent in the monitoring of experimental and representative basins. In designing an apparatus for laboratory catchment studies, particular attention must be paid to the methods of simulating rainfall over, and of measuring discharge from, the artificial catchments. The former should reflect the imp...
متن کاملSimulation of Climatic Conditions within the Caves Through a Controlled Laboratory Environment to Estimate the Annual Dissolution Rate of Karstic Shapes Inside Katale Khor and Saholan Caves
Aims & Backgrounds: Katlekhour Cave near Garmab (Zanjan) and Saholan Cave in southeast Mahabad, two Iranian tourist caves, attract a large number of tourists annually. Indiscriminate entry and higher number of tourists into the fragile and sensitive environment of the caves increase the concentration of carbon dioxide and disturb the chemical equilibrium inside the cave and it also has devastat...
متن کاملBiodegradation of fungicide Thiram (TMTD) in soil under laboratory conditions
In vitro studies were carried out, using four selective media, to determine the effect of the main groups of soil microorganisms on the degradation of fungicide Thiram in soil. Soil from El Geraif (East Khartoum) that had no history of pesticide exposition was chosen to conduct this experiment. In general, Thiram have a fluctuating effect on the growth of organic nitrogen using bacteria up to 1...
